When closing a branch federal and state banking regulations require that a bank must submit, "statistical or other information in support of the reasons consistent with the institution's written policies for branch office closings". Maps depicting the local market including demographics and other depository branches can be extremely helpful when determining the impact of a proposed branch closing and the alternatives available to the public.
